Powder coating your bike with a new paint job is an excellent choice in protecting it from the elements of the road and from weatherability factors. Being that powder coating is about twice as thick as liquid paint and is heat cured in an oven, it is very durable, tough, hard, and will thus help protect your bike against scratches, cracks, chips, dings and just plain wear and tear..
So, what about the dirty look your bike has after a long ride out in the elements? Well, some of OpenThrottle’s most beautiful colors are in the dark colors, and these colors hide dirt and grime better than light colors. Plus, a beautiful smooth gloss finish can help prevent dust and mud sticking much better than a textured matte finish.

How is the magic of powder coating done? The process is pretty simple regardless how big of a job it is. The powder is sprayed onto the grounded parts – in this case the bike- using an electrostatic process. There are electrodes at the end of the gun, and when the powder passes through these electrodes it picks up the electrostatic charge and is attracted towards the grounded part.
The charged particles adhere to the frame and then the part goes into an oven, where the part heats up. When it reaches temperature the powder melts, flows, gels and cures into a smooth, hard coating. This tough, scratch resistant film is exactly what you need!
There are plenty of great options to choose from when have your bike coated – whether you’re a cyclist in Arizona looking for color fade protection against harsh UV light or a mountain biker in Florida looking for improved corrosion protection from salt and humidity, there are powders that will help protect your bike.
