OpenThrottle
Standard Polyester
Our standard polyester powders are an excellent, all purpose coating that will decorate and protect your automotive refinishing project. Polyester product codes start with a ‘P’.
Most standard polyesters will deliver good exterior durability and good chemical resistance, though some (usually the brights and neons) are more limited. Ask for details! They’re highly impact resistant and flexible and they also offer good overbake resistance to yellowing for the coater. What’s more, they are extremely cost effective. What’s not to love?
OpenThrottle Super Durables
OpenThrottle Super Durables are tough, weatherable and everything you want from an exterior coating! OpenThrottle super durables are an excellent, all round coating that deliver additional exterior weathering, salt and humidity resistance over a standard polyester. They look awesome and will make sure your automotive project benefits from excellent exterior durability, excellent chemical resistance, high impact resistant and flexibility, excellent abrasion and resistance. Everything you and your coating need to make sure the coated part battles the elements for as long as possible. Super Durable product codes start with a ‘S’.
OpenThrottle Primers
Powder primers deliver additional performance. Period. Essentially, they’re gonna help protect the substrate – adding another layer of protection – and also provide a smooth surface to apply your top coat to. A primer is a really good idea with more challenging parts. We have one primer listed on our color card, but there’s a bunch more available that will deliver a variety of benefits depending on what you need. Talk to the OpenThrottle team and discover what’s best for you. Primers deliver a massive range of benefits depending on which one you choose. Check out just some of the benefits:
- Improved adhesion. Superior adhesion to the substrate and topcoat can improve chip resistance.
- Toughening. A tough primer improves the chip resistance of a hard, wear-resistant topcoat.
- Corrosion resistance. A primer can slow the spread of rust from a cut that penetrates through the coating.
- Sealing. Used on porous substrates to protect the topcoat from craters, pits and discolorations.
- Edge coverage. A low flow primer can achieve coverage of the sharp edges of metal substrates.
- Smoothing. A primer may be used to fill pits and cracks and bridge onto bumps in a metal substrate
